Running & Cardio Fitness

Class news - Antonio

I have some good and bad news to share...

Antonio is flying back to his hometown next week. Sadly for us, this now won’t just be for a holiday. He’s decided to move back permanently so that he can spend more time with his friends and family in Croatia.

The really good news is that he is keen to continue his online Zoom sessions for HA fitness!

So it is farewell, but certainly not goodbye.

Antonio joined the HA fitness team in October 2016 and has run literally hundreds of sessions for us since then! He is well loved across all of our clients, never sick and 100% reliable. Even on a cold, dark winter’s morning when it’s pouring rain, Antonio will be there with a smile!

Thank you so much for all of your hard work and dedication to the team Antonio!!

Tomorrow’s 6.15am class will be Antonio’s last park session. So if you can make it, it would be great to see you there. All of his Zoom sessions will run as normal this week, so don’t worry if you can’t make it.

More announcements to come as to how our timetable will be evolving.

That feel good feeling from training outside again!

Socially distanced SPG2.jpg

Loved teaching our 7.45am and 9.00am sessions on Saturday in South Park Gardens. What a beautiful morning for exercising outdoors!

Everyone was happy to remain a safe 3 meters apart throughout the session. We were so socially distanced that you can’t quite see everyone in the photos. Can you spot a few of our clients underneath the shade of the tree?

Despite the distancing, we still successfully managed to chat, laugh and workout hard. Just like the old days!

We’re continuing to run our hybrid timetable of Zoom and outdoor fitness this week: Fit In The Park and Fit In The Home.

If you’d like to join us, just message or email me for details.

Training - inside (Zoom) and outside (South Park Gardens)

Antonio exercise.jpg

It was such a lovely feeling to see everyone back in the park again!

This week we will be operating the same Zoom and outdoor booking system (and continuing to monitor numbers, so that we can offer you even better value for money going forward). This is what you could be doing:

OUTDOOR FIT IN THE PARK:

  • Thursday 6.15am South Park Gardens (tomorrow)

  • Friday 6.15am Wimbledon Park

  • Saturday 7.45am South Park Gardens

  • Saturday 9.00am South Park Gardens

Thursday and Friday will be with Antonio. Saturday will be with Heather as Kate is away.

To enable us to comply with the new Covid-19 regulations, it's really important that you book into each class in advance. To do this simply reply to this email. You can then either use up a session on your HA fitness class pass or pay £10 online (we'll send you our details after you've booked).

If you have a class pass, you need to send us a photo of it, and we can then manage your sessions from there.

If you haven't done so already, you'll also need to complete a health form which you can do here: https://forms.gle/FNkEocaCRKkSLCsL6.

The class will be socially distanced. You will need a mat or towel to lie on, plus some water to drink. Please don’t come if you have any Covid-19 symptoms. And don’t forget to wash your hands before and after the session!

ONLINE ZOOM SESSIONS:

We still have a lot Zoom sessions going on for the rest of this week. Choose from:

  • Wednesday 12.30pm Cardio Pilates

  • Thursday 6.15am Fit In The Home

  • Thursday 1.00pm Stretch & Restore

  • Thursday 7.30pm Cardio Core

  • Friday 6.15am Fit In The Home

  • Friday 1.00pm Stretch & Restore

It's just £12 a week for all of our Zoom classes. Drop us a line to book on and receive the links.

Hope to see lots of you in the park this week!

Back in the park!

1st day back in SPG - social distancing.jpg

And we’re back!! Our first Fit In The Park class at 6.15am this morning in South Park Gardens.

Well done to Antonio who was running this session, both in the park and on Zoom for our clients at home.

And well done to our amazing clients for joining us, following the social distancing rules and working out really, really hard. It was so lovely to see you all in real life!

Antonio is back tomorrow at 6.15am, this time in Wimbledon Park. Drop us a line if you’d like to join him. This session will also be taking place on Zoom.

Wow what a fantastic start to our outdoor sessions!

Park or Zoom classes? Tell us what you think!

Park or zoom survey .jpg

I've been absolutely blown away by how many people have answered our survey about our Zoom and outdoor classes. Also how enthusiastic and supportive all of your messages have been. I literally have a tear in my eye. Thankyou!

I'll close the survey on Sunday night, so if you haven't done so already, here's the email and survey link:

- - - -☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️- - -

The question everyone has been asking me is “are you going to run classes in the park again?”...Shortly followed by “how will it work?”.... And also “will you continue with the Zoom sessions?”

My answer is usually some shade of the following: As a team we really enjoy running our Zoom sessions, and we’ve gained so much more time from not traveling to classes.

You, our lovely clients, have told us that you’ve really enjoyed our online timetable, and many of you are doing a lot more sessions than you were doing pre-lockdown!

So if everyone is happy, why bother going outside?

Well, venturing out to the park for a class gives you a break from your work and family environment. And there’s so much more space to move around. Not to mention the social side of being able to chat freely while you blaze through a set of squats and burpees.

In a perfect world, we'd have an extensive timetable, both on Zoom and in the park, for you to dip into each week. However, as I’m sure you can appreciate, we have to be realistic with our time and resources.

We’re aware that you’ll all have different preferences and one-size will not fit all. So, we’ve put together this short survey to help find out what you’d really like to see on the timetable. We can then use this to put together a plan of action.

https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Z55QB6C

It goes without saying that we’ll be observing all social distancing guidelines. And we’ll only train in groups outside when it is safe to do so.

Hope to see you on Zoom soon!

Training safe online during lock down

Four weeks ago, we headed into the unknown and announced that our Fit In The Park class wouldn't be outside, and instead would be streamed online into your kitchens and living rooms.

It was our 9am Saturday class, the busiest of our week, and a huge ask of our lovely Instructor, Kate.

Amazingly, over 20 of you tuned in for her session. And she nailed it!

Since then we’ve added to our timetable and made a few improvements to our set up.

With the current lockdown measures remaining in place for at least another 3 weeks, and life not going back to normal at any point soon, we'd like you to know that the HA team have got your back. We're ready and fired up to give you a physical and mental boost, six days a week, until we can all safely go outside again.

As before, you get all of our Zoom classes for just £12 a week (no commitment, you just pay on a weekly basis). Our week runs from Monday through to Saturday inclusive.

If you'd like to sign-up to next week and don't already have our payment details, just email me at heather@hafitness.com.

Happy training and stay safe,

Heather x

egg lifting weights.jpg

Here's a quick update about what's going on over the next week or so...

Join us tonight at 7.50pm for our last class at the Holy Trinity School until the Autumn. We'll be back out in the fresh air in South Park Gardens at the earlier time of 7.15pm on Monday 9th April!

All of our classes in South Park Gardens and Wimbledon Park will not be taking place on Good Friday and Bank Holiday Monday.

The good news is, all of our Saturday classes will be running as normal! Here's what we've got planned:

If you need to update your class pass, then head over to our website to purchase online. Or drop-in to any of our sessions for £10 a go. All newcomers are very welcome to try us out for free.

If you fancy something different, we've got just 1 space left on our Pilates course in the South Park Gardens Cafe with Sophie. We've also got a few places left on our Running BootCamp session with Claire. Head over to our BootCamp page to find out more and to book your place!

Happy Training,

Heather and the HA fitness Team x

P.S. Check out our Facebook (hafitnessltd) for some great tips, our latest class details and, of course some great photos.

Last call for HIIT Boot Camp - January 2018!

Claire BC.jpg

The lovely Claire is kicking off our first HIIT BootCamp of 2018 in Wimbledon Park tomorrow morning!

If you're still making your mind up about coming, now's the time to throw caution to the wind & commit!

We start tomorrow in Wimbledon Park at 6.15am (finishing at 7.00am).

Training over 5 consecutive mornings, you'll get a full body workout, combining strength, cardio, endurance, core & functional movement. You'll scorch calories & be challenged from head to toe.

But I'm not feeling very fit?

Don't worry. We'll be offering different levels to suit all abilities. Beginners, weekend warriors & serious fitness freaks are all welcome.

What if I can't make every session?

No problem. You can make up a class at one of our regular Fit In The Park classes.

But I don't want to go on my own?

You'll be introduced to all of our Boot Campers on the first day. We'll then work hard to ensure an inclusive, motivating spirit and strong sense of comradeship during the week. It'll be great fun too!

So when is it?

  • Monday - Friday: 6.15 - 7.00am

Where and when is it?

How much does it cost?

  • £45 for each 5-day Boot Camp.

How do I book?

Happy Training!

The Big Mince Pie Burn Off! UPDATE

Mince pie burn off.jpg

I'm delighted to say that we can run all 6 of our Mince Pie Burn-Off BootCamps over the Christmas period - wahoo!!!

We're now able to keep the bookings open right up until it's all over. So do please book yourselves and your friends and family on. Have a look at the times and dates below, then head over to our Boot Camp page to book your place.

With 1 more sleep to go until the big day, the time has come for the hard-working HA team to enjoy some time off with our families (and dry out our mats, de-tangle our resistance bands, polish our kettlebells...etc).

We'll pop onto facebook (hafitnessLtd), twitter (@ha_fitness), Instagram (@hafitness, @hafitness_wimbledon and @buggyfit_wimbledon) occasionally, so do drop in and let us know how you're getting on.

Thank you so much for all of your support in 2017. We'd like to wish you and your families a lovely Christmas and an amazing 2018!

Eat, drink and be fit,

Our Top 5 Tips To Beat The Christmas Bulge!

Over the next few weeks, journalists will thoughtfully inform us about the amount of weight the average person should expect to put on in December.

Don't be one of those statistics! Scroll down for our top 5 tips on beating the Christmas bulge, sign-up for our Mince Pie Burn-Offs and get your name down on our January HIIT BootCamp!

1) Make Those Treats Worthwhile

You actually don’t have to drink a gingerbread latte topped with freshly whipped cream, gold stars and a gingerbread man, every time you pass a coffee shop.

But if you do fancy one of those festive coffees, then go for it. Pick a time when you can sit down and really enjoy every last one of those syrupy, creamy mouthfuls. It's a complete waste of indulgence if you just grab one and go though. Have it once for an indulgent treat, and make sure you allow time to truly appreciate it.

2) Pass-On The Indulgent Love (tactfully)

People always feel obliged to bring chocolates and treats whenever they visit friends and family at this time of year. However, when these treats land on your kitchen table, don't feel obliged to consume all of them. Discreetly re-gift, or feel virtuous by donating them to a food bank or soup kitchen. Basically, your goal is to remove them from your house before you get chance to rip open the cellophane wrapper.

3) Don't Give Up

Parties, broken routines, travel and stress means that most of us are less active and eat more during December. It's OK to accept that this might happen. But try to avoid going down the “I’ve blown my diet, I may as well keep going” route. Make some healthy choices, fit in some exercise and you'll feel much better for it.

4) The Shops Are Only Closed For One Day!

Avoid stockpiling crisps, nuts and snacks for that just-in-case-someone-pops-around moment. Especially if there's a good chance you might polish them off yourself because "it’ll be a shame to waste them". Buy the things you’ll need and remember that visitors rarely come empty-handed (see Top Tip Number 2).

5) Don’t Passively Load Up On Extra Calories

Here are a few simple festive swaps you can make:

- Buy or make open top mince tarts as these can have around 50 calories less than mince pies with lids on.
- Choose satsumas to graze on rather than nuts. If you can't resist the nuts, buy ones with shells on, you'll eat a lot less of them.
- Avoid drinking creamy cocktails, Baileys and sweetened mulled wine. Stick to the fizz or wine.

Good luck and don’t forget to sign-up to our Mince Pie Burn-Offs and January HIIT BootCamp!
